Complete Your Profile
Every Civalta member has a User profile. Members who are practicing lobbyists also have a separate Lobbyist profile for the professional information clients see when discovering and evaluating lobbyists.
User profile
Who completes it: every business and lobbying-account user.
What it contains: your photo, full name, professional title, short bio, work email, and location.
Lobbyist profile
Who completes it: users with the Lobbyist role in a lobbying workspace.
What it contains: your public headline, experience, long bio, sectors of influence, availability, publishing status, and jurisdiction registrations.
Practicing lobbyists should complete both tabs.
Your User profile identifies you throughout Civalta. Your Lobbyist profile supplies the additional professional details used in lobbyist discovery and public profile views.
Before you begin
- Sign in to the Civalta workspace where you want to update your profile.
- Have a professional profile image ready if you want to add one. Civalta accepts PNG, JPG, and WebP images up to 5 MB.
- If you are a practicing lobbyist, make sure your membership has the Lobbyist role. The Lobbyist profile tab appears only for lobbyists.
Open your profile settings
- Select Settings in the Civalta navigation.
- Select Profile.
- Civalta opens the User profile tab. Lobbyists can also select the Lobbyist profile tab.
Complete your User profile
The User profile is attached to your individual Civalta account. Business users, lobbying-firm team members, and practicing lobbyists all complete this section.
- On the User profile tab, select Upload to add or replace your profile image.
- Enter the name you want Civalta to display in Full name. A full name is required before you can save.
- Add your Professional title, such as Government Affairs Director, Managing Partner, or Legislative Counsel.
- Write a concise Short bio describing your role, background, or responsibilities.
- Add your Location, such as Washington, DC or Denver, Colorado.
- Review your Work email. It comes from your Civalta account and cannot be changed on this page.

The User profile tab is available to every Civalta member.
If you are not a lobbyist, select Save profile when the information is complete. If you are a lobbyist, continue to the Lobbyist profile tab before saving.
Complete your Lobbyist profile
For practicing lobbyists only
This section does not apply to other business or non-lobbying-account users. The information you add here shapes the public profile businesses see when they search for lobbying support.
- Select the Lobbyist profile tab.
- Write a clear Headline summarizing the issues, industries, or services central to your practice.
- Enter your Years of experience. Use zero or a positive whole number.
- Use the Long bio to explain your experience, approach, representative work, and the kinds of clients you serve. Do not include confidential client information.
- Choose up to three Sectors of influence. Select the policy areas that most accurately describe your practice.
- Turn on Accepting new clients if businesses may contact you about new work.
- Turn on Published profile when the profile is ready to appear in discovery and public profile views.

The Lobbyist profile controls the professional information used for discovery and public profile views.
Publishing and availability are separate settings.
Published profile controls whether discovery pages can show your profile. Accepting new clients communicates whether you are currently open to new client conversations.
Add jurisdiction registrations
Keep your registrations current so businesses can understand where you are registered and find you using jurisdiction filters.
- In Jurisdiction registrations, select Add registration.
- Search for and select the jurisdiction.
- Enter the official Registration number. A number is required for specific jurisdictions, and each number on your profile must be unique.
- Optionally add a Reference URL linking to an official registry or other authoritative source.
- Repeat these steps for each jurisdiction where you are registered.

Add the registration number and, when available, an official reference URL for each jurisdiction.
New or updated registrations may need verification before they are treated as verified in discovery. If a verified registration needs to be corrected, contact Civalta Support.
Save your profile
- Review the information on every tab available to you.
- Select Save profile. One save action saves changes from both tabs.
- Wait for Civalta to confirm that your profile settings were saved.
Select Discard changes before saving if you want to restore the information from your last saved profile.
Troubleshooting
The Lobbyist profile tab is missing
Confirm that you are in your lobbying workspace and have the Lobbyist role. If the tab should be available, ask an organization owner or administrator to review your membership.
Civalta will not save the profile
Make sure Full name is present, Years of experience is not negative, no more than three sectors are selected, and every jurisdiction has a unique registration number.
The profile image will not upload
Confirm that the image is a PNG, JPG, or WebP file and no larger than 5 MB, then try again.
What’s next?
After completing your personal profile:
- Business users: complete your organization profile, then begin finding lobbyists or creating opportunities.
- Lobbying users: complete the lobbying organization profile and review each practicing lobbyist’s profile before publishing it.
