What is free?

Clients can create an account, browse lobbyists, post opportunities, and manage engagements without a platform subscription. The cost of your lobbyist’s services and any applicable invoice fees are separate.

Lobbying firms can create their organization, prepare profiles, and give teammates non-practicing organization or billing access without purchasing a lobbyist seat. An Owner or Admin who also practices needs a paid seat.

How lobbyist seats work

A standard lobbyist seat costs $150 per month and is assigned to an individual practicing lobbyist. Active practicing access lets that person submit proposals and manage client work. The organization pays for its seats, including an independent practitioner’s own seat.

Seat pricing example
One standard seat is $150 per month. Three standard seats are $450 per month. These examples show full-month subscription charges before any account-specific discounts or other applicable charges.

When do seat changes affect billing?

  • Inviting a lobbyist: Pending invitations do not occupy or bill a seat. A seat is assigned when the invitation is accepted. An additional charge applies only if the organization needs more paid seats.
  • Adding paid seats: If you need more seats than you have already purchased for the current period, the additional seats are invoiced immediately on a prorated basis for the remaining billing period.
  • Removing lobbyist access: Practicing access stops immediately. The lower seat quantity takes effect at renewal; the amount already billed for the current period is not automatically reduced.
  • Reassigning a paid seat: You can use an available paid seat for another lobbyist during the current period. Reusing a seat scheduled for removal cancels that seat’s reduction at renewal.

Review the billing confirmation before adding or removing practicing access. See Invite and Manage Organization Members for the steps.

How the Civalta service fee works

Civalta adds a 2.5% service fee to client invoices for engagements formed through Civalta, including opportunities, outreach, and direct hiring. The fee is calculated from the lobbyist’s service subtotal and appears as a separate line on the client’s invoice. It is separate from the firm’s seat subscription.

Client invoice example
$10,000 in lobbyist services × 2.5% = $250 Civalta service fee.
The client’s invoice total is $10,250.

Existing client relationships entered as manual engagements do not receive the Civalta service fee. Stripe fees can still apply when the firm collects payment. If Civalta has arranged a different service-fee rate for your account, confirm it with Support and review the invoice’s fee line.

How Stripe fees affect the firm

Stripe processing and Invoicing fees are separate from the Civalta service fee. They are charged to the lobbying firm receiving payment and affect its net payout. Civalta does not cover or offset these costs.

The firm can review payment deductions and net amounts in its invoice payment details. Check your Stripe account for the rates that apply to your payment methods and account.

Where to review and manage billing

Owners, Admins, and teammates with Billing access can open Settings → Organization → Billing to review the seat subscription.

  1. Check the next invoice amount, billing date, purchased seats, assigned lobbyists, available seats, and the number of seats that renew.
  2. Use Billing history to open subscription invoices.
  3. Select Manage in Stripe to review the payment method and available subscription options. Check Billing for any scheduled cancellation date.
